Acorn Earrings: Small and Mighty

Acorns nourish both body and soul. They are seeds of strength, carriers of future forests, and, for many, symbols of resilience and nourishment. For me, they hold a lot of meaning. Whenever I’m out walking, I find myself searching for the perfect one. Their imperfect symmetry feels grounding in the hand. I also have fond kidhood memories of gathering acorns with my chosen family to make flour, a seasonal ritual that deepened my appreciation for these small but mighty seeds.

This personal connection inspired the creation of my Acorn Earrings. Each pair begins with the same process I use when foraging: finding the right acorn. Once selected, I make a mold and carefully place copper rings so that molten aluminum can flow around them during casting. Opening the flask is always a treat, the earrings are born! Each one is completely individual, shaped as much by the natural world as by my hands.

The finished earrings are cast aluminum with copper implants, combining raw, reclaimed material with traditional craftsmanship. Their weight is light, but their presence is grounding. They serve as both adornment and talisman, wearable reminders of the cycles of growth and resilience.

For anyone who shares that connection to acorns( I think we all love Oaks in some way) these earrings are an invitation to carry that bond into daily life. Small, imperfect, and enduring, they are a celebration of nature’s humble gifts and the stories they hold.
