About Me
Hi, I’m Izzy, a teacher who last year had a high-risk pregnancy.
At 12 weeks our scan showed a larger than average nuchal fold, a 1:2 chance of Down's and a 1:16 of Edwards’ and Patau’s. Thankfully, our NIPT came back low risk but we were still placed on the fetal medicine pathway. After two clear anomaly scans at 18 & 20 weeks we thought we were in the clear, until a growth scan at 28 weeks led us to an IUGR diagnosis, an urgent amniocentesis and deep genetic testing. By some miracle, all those tests also came back clear but we still had fortnightly growth scans.
Due to reduced movements at 36 weeks, baby boy was born early via C-section; weighing a tiny 1.7kg. This led to a 2 week NICU stay.
I do not claim to be an expert on any of this and none of this is medical advice, but the teacher in me wanted to create some resources that would help families going through similar things as I did. I have worked hard to produce resources that I wished I would have had through my high-risk pregnancy (more in the works). Please follow below to get the latest updates.
