About Me
Gladys Villalobos, visual artist with a passion for Silk Art which she proudly worked and displayed her creations at different galleries, public places and art festivals; Spanish translator and Interpreter servicing the Spanish Community.
After years combining both professions and succeeding, Gladys started noticing changes in the hands, experiencing weaknesses, to the extreme that her art work was not coming out as she wanted.
A tour of doctors followed and in May 2015 Gladys was diagnosed with a motor neuron disease; ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis); Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Facing a relentless debilitating condition and with the support of her family, the ALS clinic at Orlando Health and the ALS Association, she was guided on how to experience a better quality of life and use tools such as power chairs; introducing her to Tobii Dynavox, she decides to use her creative gift for art and her knowledge in the skill of writing to show herself and the world that nothing can stop you to succeed.
She has published a book, Lost&Found in quail land; a book of poem with images of her artwork and stays active creating.
