Grant Horsley

Grant lives in Norfolk on the east coast of the UK and works as a composer, pianist and educator. He studied Piano Performance, Flute and Composition at the Royal College of Music London UK.

He was head of the Music department at East Coast College for a number of years, as well as having an additional role as Senior examiner for the Advanced level composition paper for Pearson Education. In 2014 he decided to leave his post and pursue private teaching and composition.

He has been involved in all types of music during his career as a performer and composer and for many years had a specialism as a pianist and composer in the field of ballet, where he has undertaken several commissions from teachers to write pieces to be used for festivals and competitions. Some of them are part of the Cd collection “Reflections” and “World Music for Ballet” together with other Cd’s and downloads of original Ballet Music.

He now teaches privately from home and composes primarily for solo and small ensembles focusing mainly in the romantic and film styles. He believes a strong melodic line is paramount, but there should be room for harmonic surprises! A lot of his compositions focus on works for solo flute, flute and clarinet duet and music for flute and clarinet choirs which have been performed internationally.
