My name is Thassia Leese, I am the founder of Golden Aura, and my story begins in the heart of Brazil. Born and raised in Brazil, I grew up surrounded by the country's extraordinary natural beauty, vibrant traditions, and deep respect for Indigenous cultures since I am Indigenous as well. More than twenty-two years ago, life brought me to the United States, but my heart has always remained connected to my homeland.

Throughout my travels and experiences, I realized that some of Brazil's greatest treasures remain unknown to the world. Among them is Capim Dourado, or "Golden Grass"—a remarkable natural fiber that shines like pure gold without containing a single ounce of metal.

Golden Aura was created from a dream: to bring the elegance, artistry, and cultural richness of Brazil to people who appreciate authentic luxury while creating meaningful opportunities for the Indigenous artisans who keep this centuries-old tradition alive. Every piece in our collection is handcrafted by skilled Indigenous artisans from the state of Tocantins, Brazil. Their knowledge has been passed from generation to generation, preserving techniques that celebrate patience, craftsmanship, and respect for nature. Each bracelet, necklace, ring, pair of earrings, purse, and accessory carries the story of the hands that created it and the community that continues this extraordinary legacy.

The Story of Capim Dourado

Capim Dourado (Syngonanthus nitens) grows naturally in the wetlands of the Jalapão region in the Brazilian state of Tocantins. During harvest season, its delicate stems naturally transform into a brilliant golden color that resembles strands of sunlight. For generations, Indigenous and traditional communities have carefully harvested the grass only after it reaches maturity, allowing seeds to disperse naturally before collection. This sustainable practice helps protect the species and preserve the fragile ecosystem where it grows.

The artisans weave each strand entirely by hand, traditionally using natural fibers from the buriti palm to stitch every piece together. No paint, dyes, or artificial coloring are used—the golden glow is completely natural.

Each creation is unique. No two pieces are exactly alike, making every design a one-of-a-kind work of art.
