5-Minute Self-Care Routines for Exhausted Moms

Because even one deep breath can change your day.

Hi mama,

If you’re here, you’re probably running on coffee, 3 hours of sleep (if you’re lucky), and sheer love. You adore your baby, but… you’re tired. Really tired.

I get it — I’ve been there, and sometimes still am.

The last thing I want to give you is another list of things that sound like work. You don’t need to wake up earlier, take a bath with rose petals, or buy 10-step skincare.

You need simple, real, and doable self-care that takes 5 minutes or less — and sometimes happens with your baby on your lap.

So here are the tiny things that helped me feel more human when I felt like I was disappearing.

1. The 3-Breath Reset

Stand by the sink. Put one hand on your heart. Close your eyes.

Take 3 deep, slow breaths.

That’s it.

No affirmations. No forced smiles. Just oxygen and presence. It shifts more than you think.

2. Wash your face (and really feel it)

Use your favorite cleanser. Warm water. A clean towel.

As you wash your face, say:

“I deserve this moment. I’m doing my best.”

You’ll feel fresher — and a little more like you.

3. Change the air

Step outside, even for 30 seconds. Onto the porch, balcony, or just by an open window. Breathe something new. Let your shoulders drop.

4. Apply moisturizer slowly

You’re probably doing this anyway — but do it like a mini massage.

Circle your temples. Soften your jaw. Press your palms to your cheeks.

Even one minute of intentional touch helps the nervous system calm down.

5. Sit. With nothing.

Put the baby down safely. Set a timer for 5 minutes.

No phone. No chores. No podcast.

Just sit. Breathe. Stare at a candle, the floor, or the wall.

The world won’t fall apart. But your nervous system will thank you.

Real talk, mama.

Self-care doesn’t need to be big or beautiful.

It just needs to exist.

You’re worthy of these small moments — not because you were productive, or kind, or perfect.

But because you are a person. Still.

Even now, in this season that feels like it’s all about someone else.

So take your 5 minutes.

Not later. Not next week.

Today.

With love and understanding,

A mom who’s been there
