How I Organize My Baby’s Clothes with ZERO Closet Space

Practical, real-life storage tips from a small-space mama

When I was pregnant with my first baby, I spent hours scrolling Pinterest, dreaming of a dreamy walk-in nursery closet with labeled bins and hanging baby outfits by size.

Reality check: I live in a one-bedroom apartment with my husband, baby, and not a single extra closet.

So, I had to get creative — and honestly? I’ve learned so much about what we actually need (and don’t) when it comes to storing baby clothes in a small space.

Here’s exactly how I organize my baby’s clothes — without a nursery, without a closet, and without spending a fortune.

1. Clear Out a Drawer Just for Baby

You don’t need a fancy dresser. We repurposed an old IKEA 3-drawer unit and made one drawer 100% baby’s.

Tip: Remove anything non-baby related. That drawer is precious real estate!

2. Roll, Don’t Fold

Rolling baby clothes not only saves space — it lets you see everything at a glance. No more digging for a bodysuit at 3am.

3. Use Drawer Dividers

These were a game changer! I found soft, foldable drawer organizers on Amazon for under $15.

Now I have separate sections for onesies, sleepers, pants, and socks.

No more chaos. No more “where are the mittens?!”

4. Hang What You Can — Without a Closet

We added a row of hooks to the wall using command strips. That’s where I hang outfits for the week, swaddles, or a cute jacket. It’s practical and aesthetic.

5. Use Under-Crib Storage Bins

The space under the crib is gold. I use two clear plastic bins: one for “next size up” clothes, one for extra swaddles and blankets.

It’s out of the way but easy to grab when needed.

6. Rotate Seasonally & Keep It Minimal

Babies grow FAST. Every month or two, I sort through what still fits and pack away anything that doesn’t.

I aim to keep only about 7–10 everyday outfits in rotation.

Less laundry, less clutter, less stress.

🚨 You shouldn’t have to figure it all out at 2am — through tears, Google, and guilt.

That’s why I made this Survival Guide.
