On Miracles: Forgiveness, Resurrection and Rebirth

*Important: the following are own my own reflections on whatever it is I am reading at the current moment. If you've read the same books or sources, I'd love to hear your reflections as well.

There's a quote I've read in the book I'm currently reading. The quote says:

"We are heir to the laws that govern the world we believe in." -Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love

Ever since I've read this quote, I began thinking about the power of our mind and how much of an effect it has on our everyday life. What I've also learned on my healing journey so far that we can have a bigger power on our mind, once we learn how to care for it.

One of the things I've struggled with so far is my sense of self-perception and self-esteem.

I began asking myself "Does my mind really have enough power over me to make me feel this horrible about everything? If my mind does have this power, can the same power and energy be harnessed for good?"

Lengthy discussions with my therapist showed me that the answer is a simple YES.

We are not responsible over what happened to us when we were younger. We are not responsible over the actions of others or their beliefs and actions. We are not responsible of the world.

However, we are responsible over how we heal, learn and grow from it. We are responsible of our own thoughts, actions and behaviors. We are responsible of ourself.

"Forgiveness is a full time job, and sometimes very difficult. Few of us always succeed, yet making the effort is our most noble calling." -Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love

Here, we're talking about radical forgiveness. Radical forgiveness doesn't mean we become passive and allow harmful actions and behaviors. It means accepting it as it is, letting it go and moving forward. I think it can also be called "Radical Acceptance", if the idea of forgiveness feels heavy.

The idea of "Radical Acceptance/Forgiveness" is mainly for our own personal healing. It has little to do with other people or what they may have done to us. It has everything to do with us and how we relate to ourself and others.

"We can all contribute to a global rebirth to the extent that we allow ourselves to be awakened from our own personal dream of separation and guilt, to release our own past and accept a new life in the present" -Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love

The only time we have is the Now. The current moment. Now.

We may have experienced atrocities in the past. We may have even experienced events that we prefer to keep hidden until the day we die.

It has become our job to heal from them and grow. It's important to remember that healing is not linear. Healing takes time, practice and discipline.

What happened to us was difficult.

Healing is also difficult.

We need to make the choice which kind of difficulty we're willing to tread on.
