About Me

James Hind is a UKA/EA licensed high jump coach, former high jumper, and winner of the European Masters Championships (Madrid, 2018) with a jump of 2.01m at the age of 41, which is the 3rd highest jump of all time in the UK in that age group.

His journey in athletics like many began at school before under national coach Mike Dolby, he started to developed his technical and mental foundations that shaped his approach to performance. After stepping away from competition in his twenties, James returned to the sport with renewed purpose combining his experience as an athlete with a passion for developing others.

Today, James works with athletes across Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire, supporting clubs, schools, and young coaches through the Dorset Leadership Academy. In addition he works closely with other coaches at Loughborough University as athletes transition and has a number of athletes on the England Athletics Youth Talent Programme. His coaching philosophy is grounded in evidence based training, clear communication, and a belief that every athlete can achieve more with the right guidance, structure, and mindset.

For James, high jump is more than an event it’s a journey of growth, resilience, and shared success with the athlete at the centre.
