With over 15 years of experience in the music industry, Cassandra Smith has carved out a significant role in shaping the future of country music in British Columbia. As the president of the BC Country Music Association (BCCMA), her work extends beyond just leadership, reaching into event planning, education, volunteering, and even personal artistic development. Her journey has been one of passion, dedication, and a commitment to fostering the growth of the music community in BC.
President of the BC Country Music Association: A Vision for the Future
As president of the BCCMA, Cassandra has been at the forefront of promoting and supporting country music in the province. She’s not just holding a title—she’s actively shaping the programming and initiatives that make the BCCMA a crucial part of BC’s musical landscape. With the Association's Board of Directors and volunteers, there is new growth and stability in the association. One of her proudest accomplishments has been Co-producing the 2023 BCCMA Awards show at the River Rock Resort Casino & the Hall of Fame show 2024 inducting 12 deserving inductees. She is so proud of developing educational programs that empower artists, performers, and industry professionals to further their craft. With the help of industry professionals this has become a successful venture.
Her work in education has been especially impactful, She is working towards providing a pathway for artists to gain industry insights, technical skills, and the tools needed to navigate the business side of music. Whether through workshops, mentorship programs, or collaborations with local organizations, Cassandra has worked tirelessly to ensure that BC’s country music community has access to resources that can help them thrive.

Volunteering and Event Leadership: Making Music Happen
Cassandra’s commitment to the local music scene goes far beyond her work with the BCCMA. Her work with Wide Glide Entertainment is especially noteworthy, where she has been a team member vital to operations at Sunfest Country Music Festival, Laketown Shakedown, and Laketown Rock Festival.
As the operations command for these large-scale events, Cassandra has worked with the festival teams to ensure that everything runs smoothly, from coordinating logistics. Her organizational skills and attention to detail have made her an asset to the success of these events.

Throughout her career, Cassandra has made it her mission to champion the artists who make the BC country music scene unique. Developing Music Programs and Growing as an Artist
As a certified BC teacher, Cassandra has combined her passion for education and music to develop effective music programs that benefit students and artists alike. She understands the importance of education in fostering a deeper connection to music, and she’s dedicated to creating opportunities for people of all ages to learn and grow through music. Teaching Vocals one on one with artists who want to find their voice.
In addition to her leadership and advocacy work, Cassandra has also dedicated time to developing her own artistic skills as a vocalist and co-founder of Moonshine Mollys. She is a singer-songwriter with original music released and more to come in 2025. This hands-on experience has given her a unique perspective as both an industry professional and a working artist. Being an active part of a group allows her to continue learning while sharing her talents with audiences across BC and beyond.
