With a Hyrox race coming up this Sunday, I’ve noticed something that feels different — and honestly, a bit unexpected.
What stood out was how calm I feel around everything leading into it. The race is in the evening, which is new for me. I’ve spent years racing early mornings or mid-day, sticking closely to routines that feel familiar and safe.
This time, I noticed a surprising flexibility. No need to control the setup. After yesterday’s threshold session, that feeling became clearer. Not because the session was exceptional — but because it was good enough.
After a few weeks of illness and only one proper week of intensity, I expected my mind to start negotiating, adjusting, analyzing. Instead, there was a quiet sense of trust. No active effort to “think positively”. No checklist of what should be better by now.
That’s led me to shift the focus of this week slightly — less doing, more settling. Prioritizing recovery. Somewhat surprisingly, giving a bit more space to things like breathwork and meditation — which, cliché as it might sound, have slowly but genuinely helped more than I expected.
What surprised me most wasn’t the physical readiness — it was the mental one. There’s a certain safety in realizing that not every phase needs to be optimized. Sometimes, letting things be enough creates more stability than trying to make them perfect.
If you’re in Stockholm this weekend racing HYROX yourself, feel free to reach out — wishing you the best of luck!
Thank you for reading.
