THE REBUILDING YEAR

One Month Changed My Life. Twelve Months Changed Me.

I didn’t plan to write a 12-book series this year. I was simply trying to survive 2026.

What began with an eviction notice in January became a year of unexpected endings, difficult goodbyes, homelessness, faith, fear, starting over, and discovering who I was becoming when the life I knew no longer existed.

THE REBUILDING YEAR is a deeply personal 12-book series documenting my journey one month at a time—not from the other side of the struggle, but while I was (and still am) living it.

This isn’t just a story about what I lost.

It’s the story of what I built next.

The journey begins with Book One: THE NOTICE.

BOOK ONE

THE NOTICE

Sometimes life serves you notice before it rebuilds you.

January 2026 began like any other new year—full of plans, expectations, and the belief that somehow things would work themselves out.

Then came THE NOTICE.

One piece of paper changed everything.

Facing eviction at 49 years old, I found myself standing at the beginning of a journey I never asked for, completely unprepared for what would come next.

THE NOTICE is the raw beginning of THE REBUILDING YEAR—a story about fear, faith, uncertainty, survival, and what happens when the life you thought you were building suddenly begins falling apart.

I didn't know where we would live.

I didn't know how I was going to fix it.

And I certainly didn't know that this wasn't the end of my story.

It was only January.

BOOK TWO

ROOM 415

What happens when home is no longer an address?

ROOM 415, Book Two of The Rebuilding Year series, continues Kisha J’s real-time journey through one of the most uncertain seasons of her life.

After leaving the home she thought would be forever, Kisha and her daughters find themselves living in an extended-stay hotel—trying to maintain normal routines while quietly facing the reality of homelessness.

Room 415 became more than four walls and a hotel bed. It became a place of tears, prayers, job searches, uncertainty, gratitude, and survival.

They were safe.

They were fed.

They were together.

But one question remained:

Now what?

ROOM 415 is an honest story about what it looks like to keep going when you have no idea what comes next—and discovering that sometimes God will meet you right in the middle of the temporary place.

One Month Changed My Life. Twelve Months Changed Me.

And it was only February.

BOOK THREE

THE U-HAUL

Book Three of The Rebuilding Year

What happens when the moving truck becomes the place you sleep?

By March, hotel rooms were too expensive, options were running out, and Kisha J was doing what mothers do when life leaves no easy choices—figuring it out.

THE U-HAUL follows Kisha and her children through nights spent sleeping in a U-Haul, searching for safe places to park and finding showers wherever they could—all while trying to hold onto faith, family, and some sense of normalcy.

This isn't simply a story about homelessness. It's about motherhood, resourcefulness, humility, gratitude, survival, and trusting God when you can't see the next step.

Because where you sleep does not determine who you are, and a difficult chapter doesn't get to write the ending.

Sometimes rebuilding looks like a beautiful new beginning.

And sometimes... it means sleeping in the U-Haul until the next door opens.
