About Me

Julie Clyde is an Australian, professional photographer, and artist. Born and raised in Canberra, Australia, she is the youngest child of a hard-working couple who both excelled in their educational careers. They retired from teaching to open their own successful business which gave Julie an example of being able to work for herself whilst supporting a family.

Julie spent countless hours as a child sneaking into the family study to hold, play with and click all the buttons on her dad's beloved SLR camera, whilst daydreaming about who or what she might one take capture with one of her own.

After studying Industrial Design at the University of Canberra, Australia she embarked on a decade-long adventure building and developing her photography style whilst working full time in operational management, design, and retail.

Having a lifelong love of creating, she has continued her passion for learning all aspects of art, psychology, emotive imagery, and photomanipulation. This joy of learning has seen her win many international awards for her work. She has developed her own style of highly creative portraits which transcends portrait traditions.

Each artwork begins with a blank screen and a spark of an idea. Each model is photographed according to the final concept, as are the pieces that will go into the image. Using a range of tools, textures, and skills of photomanipulation, Julie collates and pieces them all seamlessly together to ignite children's imaginations and capture their wildest dreams.

In addition to her Fantasy Portraits, Julie also developed FANTASY Magazine to inspire the next generation of creatives and give them a platform to share and publish their work.
