About Jane Badger Books

Way back when, I sold antiquarian books, specialising in books about horses. I couldn't think of a name for the shop, so I just used mine. I no longer sell antiquarian books. Now I publish books. Classic pony books.

I read everything I could get my hands on as a child, but pony books were my passion. I rode, but I didn't have a pony. Pony books were the one way I could live that dream of having a pony.

Deciding to publish those classics that were difficult to find and make them accessible again wasn't really a lightbulb moment. I'd bought a book for my godfather, completely forgetting that he'd need a magnifying glass to read it and it would have been much easier if I'd bought him something he could read on his Kindle.

Could I convert the text, I wondered? The book was well out of copyright. To cut a long story short, by the time I'd worked out how to do it, Ben had read the book. But I'd worked out how to convert text.

A few months before that, Patricia Leitch's heirs had asked me to suggest some publishers who might want to reprint her books. None of them had been interested.

Why don't I do it, I thought. I know how to do the text. How hard can it be? Well, it's been a learning process, but here we are, sixty books on.
