My first Hyrox Solo Pro experience

Let me take you back to my first-ever Hybrid race.

For some context, I’ve been training in the gym for years (lifting weights, working hard!), but I was brand new to hybrid training. A few months before the race, I signed up on a whim and told myself, “Why not?” That decision sparked a shift in how I train.

I started running regularly and added more conditioning into my weekly routine. Right away, I fell in love with the process! The rush of endorphins after each run, spending more time outdoors, and challenging myself in completely new ways. I felt alive, focused, and more motivated than ever.

When I registered for the Pro division (which means heavier weights if you're new to Hyrox), I thought, “I’m strong, I can handle this.” Let me tell you: competing was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But it was also one of the most rewarding.

I learned quickly that strength alone isn't enough; technique matters, pacing matters, mindset matters. I gained so much respect for the sport, and more importantly, for myself. I proved I could do something incredibly hard and come out stronger on the other side.

I didn’t fall in love with competing to be the best or become an elite athlete. I fell in love with the feeling of showing up, giving it everything I had, and then wanting to come back to beat my own time. That’s the heart of Hyrox. It’s you vs. you.

The truth is, people who do Hyrox are regular people. Just like me. Just like you. And once you cross that finish line, the feeling is indescribable. It’s pride, power, and proof that you’re capable of more than you think.

I can't wait to see where this journey takes me next, and I’m training harder, not for anyone else, but just for me.
