Johab Silva is a Brazilian artist and art educator based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, and founder of NEW MEDIA WORKSHOP. His multidisciplinary practice explores relationships between environmental questions, communities and urban development.

Happy Fruits brings these concerns into an original character universe. Brazilian landscapes, street art, environmental investigation and cinematic encounters become materials for an ongoing interactive artwork.

Silva works across VR/AR, generative media, video projection and performance. Happy Fruits extends this practice through nine original characters and three interconnected Brazilian worlds: KAA-TINGA, SAM-PAH and AMA-ZOM.

Its development also gave rise to Happy Fruits Rigger, an independent character-rigging and animation tool being prepared for a future public release.
