Navigate Your Supervision Journey with Confidence

Whether you're preparing to become a supervisor or working toward independent licensure, supervision is one of the most important stages of your social work career. Yet many social workers begin the process without knowing what to expect, how to prepare, or how to make the most of each supervision session.

The Clinical Supervision Roadmap was created to change that.

Designed with Ohio social workers in mind, this 29-page Clinical Supervision Roadmap equips LSWs pursuing independent licensure, LISWs preparing to become supervisors, as well as LISW-S professionals providing supervision, with practical supervision templates, reflection questions, case studies, documentation tools, and real-world resources, offering practical strategies you can begin using immediately.

Please note: While the Roadmap was developed using Ohio licensure requirements, the supervision principles in this toolkit are applicable across a variety of social work settings. Remember however, some laws, regulations, and licensure requirements referenced are specific to the State of Ohio and may differ in other states.

Professional Development & Clinical Supervision

Helping social workers navigate the road to confident, ethical, and effective supervision

As a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervisor designation (LISW-S) since 2017, I've had the privilege of supporting social workers through clinical supervision, professional development, and training. My experience spans school social work, child welfare, addiction services, residential treatment, crisis intervention, and clinical practice, giving me a well-rounded perspective on the challenges and opportunities social workers face throughout their careers.

I created the Clinical Supervision Roadmap because I recognized a common need: many social workers begin supervision feeling uncertain about what to expect, how to prepare, and how to make the most of the experience. While supervision is a requirement for independent licensure, it is also an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen clinical judgment, and grow into the social worker you aspire to be.

This toolkit was designed to bridge the gap between supervision requirements and real-world practice by providing practical guidance, reflective activities, discussion tools, and resources you can begin using immediately. My goal is to equip you with the knowledge, confidence, and support needed to make every supervision session meaningful.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your professional journey. I hope this toolkit becomes a trusted resource as you work toward your goals and continue making a difference in the lives of those you serve.
