A little about myself

I‘ve been told I should write a little about myself so here goes.

I‘m a retired registered nurse, now widowed and have five grown children, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, four dogs, and two cats. I’ve lived in Forbes since 1963---in the same house too---it’s about 110 years old. I’ve been a Christian since I was born again in 1987.

I’ve always loved writing and have been fortunate enough to have had certain pieces published including a number of poems. My first foray into the printed word was when I was about ten and I won a prize in a competition for adults in ‘The Land’ newspaper about one of our sheep dogs. My parents were astounded when a cheque arrived in the mail as they knew-nothing about it.

I started doing these studies after my sudden retirement from nursing (and a lot of other activities) due to a back injury. I began them because I wanted to know more about the Bible and what it told us. And I wanted to relate to the people in the scriptures as real people, something that is a bit difficult in the scriptures as they are written.

Over the years I’ve built up quite a library of Christian and Jewish books to help me write accurately about the customs and times of the Bible. Once I start, the hours seem to slip away and I feel really excited when I unearth some new information;; I can’t wait to tell someone. I share what I’ve learned with the Home Group I lead and they have encouraged and motivated me greatly.

These studies are my service to the Lord and I hope that they’ll prove easy to read and informative and that, the reader, by getting to know the characters better, will have a greater desire to read the Bible more.

May God Bless Each One of You,

Elizabeth
