Katenik - like Sputnik, but Kate
Whether it’s performing in a play or musical, writing stories, drawing illustrations, or playing D&D, storytelling has always been my greatest passion. I grew up in community theatre (my favorite role was Babette in Beauty and the Beast), and writing fanfic before I knew what that was.
As an artist, I love working with authors and other creatives to help bring their projects to life. My film degree helps in painting thoughtfully designed characters adored by readers while a career in tech has given me the skills to plan and execute multiple concurrent projects. My diverse tastes have helped musicians with album covers, authors with their books, wedding parties with thank you gifts, and D&D players with commemorating that boss fight!
One of the ways I contribute to the writer community is with the presentation, “Writing Trauma - Responsibly!” with co-panelist Jo Morrow. We’re both fascinated with the intersection of psychology and fiction, and help writers represent traumatic events with accuracy and compassion.
I live in southeast Texas with my librarian husband and Corgi-Shibe mix, Princess Buttercup the Destroyer. We love to travel and visit museums, always feeding our curiosity and visiting friends all over the country. Ask me about my favorite museum exhibitions for an unhinged love-rant! ;)
