I’m Deshaun Jackson, writer and founder of La’Heart Desires. I believe every person has a story worth telling, every experience holds the potential to teach us something, and every individual has the ability to make a positive difference in the world.
My work centers on storytelling, personal growth, and human connection. Through La’Heart Desires, I hope to create a space where people can learn from one another, see life from different perspectives, and recognize the value they have to offer, not only to themselves, but to the people and communities around them.

These three principles guide the purpose behind everything I hope to build.
Why I Started
La’Heart Desires began during a period of deep personal reflection following the loss of my father, Lamont Jackson, in December 2023.
Losing him changed the way I viewed time, purpose, and the importance of the lives we touch. It encouraged me to think more deeply about legacy, not simply as what we leave behind when we’re gone, but as how we live, what we teach, and how we make others feel while we’re here.
His name lives within La’Heart Desires through the word “La.” The name also carries another meaning: helping people better understand their own heart’s desires by gaining perspective, learning through experience, and discovering what matters most to them.
What began as a personal journey grew into a broader purpose: creating something that encourages people to grow, share their experiences, learn from one another, and contribute to a better world!
What I Hope to Build
I want La’Heart Desires to be more than a collection of articles or inspirational messages. I envision a growing community where people from different backgrounds and walks of life can share what they’ve learned, discover new perspectives, and encourage one another to keep growing.
Through writing, storytelling, and community-centered initiatives, I hope to make room for conversations that matter and experiences that might otherwise go unheard.
That vision comes to life through projects like Legacy Spotlight, which highlights the people behind the stories, their experiences, the lessons they’ve learned, the values they carry, and the impact they hope to make.
Because you don’t have to be famous to have a story worth sharing. You don’t have to have everything figured out to teach someone something meaningful. And you don’t have to change the entire world to make a difference in it.
Sometimes, a single story, a thoughtful conversation, or a lesson shared at the right time can leave a lasting impression.

I don’t claim to have all the answers, and I don’t believe growth requires us to pretend that we do.
I’m still learning, still developing, and still figuring out how to turn my intentions into meaningful contributions. I see this platform as part of that journey, not a place where I stand above others, but a space where we can learn alongside one another.
My hope is to connect with people who want to grow, share what they’ve learned, support their communities, and help make life a little better for someone else.
