Legacy Spotlight: Zero Reasons

“You don’t have to wait for someone to give you permission to be yourself.”

This week’s Legacy Spotlight shines on Nevaeh Carranza (Bee) and Obediah Carranza (Obe) — a dynamic sibling duo and the visionary founders behind Zero Reasons. Raised in a military family and shaped by a life of constant movement, they’ve carried their experiences across small towns and big cities, ultimately building a movement grounded in healing, honesty, and creative freedom.

💭 Mission + Inspiration

Their mission is powerful: to change the way people talk about and respond to mental health, suicide, bullying, grief, and abuse — especially now, when more tools and community resources exist than ever before. Through music, creativity, and community, Zero Reasons brings difficult topics out of the shadows and into the light where they belong.

For Bee and Obe, music has always been more than sound — it’s a language of connection. Growing up, they witnessed how differently people handled trauma, aging, deployment, loss, and isolation. But no matter the place or situation, music always created space for people to come together. They decided to do something about the silent pain they saw — and felt — all around them.

“We picked up that instrument and turned on a mic, not to just play, but to connect.”

🔥 Defining Moment

While their journey is layered with experiences of loss and change, one moment cracked it all open — the passing of their beloved Grandma-Nama Isabel.

Bee was 15. Obe was 13.

“She was our safe place, our constant friend, our biggest supporter,” they shared.

When she passed, not only did the world go quiet, but so did many of the people around them. Left to grieve in silence, they quickly realized how rare and fragile support can be — especially for youth. With waitlists for in-person help stretching nearly a year in Arizona, they did what they’ve always done: turned inward, leaned on family, and got resourceful.

That’s when they discovered music therapy — and that was the spark.

“Obe said, ‘We should start a band.’ Bee replied, ‘Yes, but with purpose!’”

That idea became Zero Reasons Mix — a space where music met healing, and young people like them could be seen, heard, and safe. What started as survival turned into a movement. Today, Zero Reasons includes a growing creative family: musicians, dancers, photographers, sound techs, and kids who just want to vibe and be themselves.

🌍 Lasting Impact

Their dream? To convince just one person to keep going.

“One life is worth everything to us,” they said.

They want people to feel seen, heard, and reminded that being themselves is not only enough — it’s beautiful. Their hope is to make mental health conversations as common as talking about sports or music — without shame, and with a lot more support.

They’re not chasing clout. They’re building connection.

And they’re showing up — because showing up matters.

🧬 What Legacy Means

To Bee and Obe, legacy means building something that doesn’t end when they do.

It’s not about protecting old traditions. It’s about creating tools, conversations, and spaces the next generation can use with more courage, creativity, and clarity.

Whether it’s music, movement, education, or art, their legacy will always be about empowerment through truth.

They’re here to remind people: Being yourself is powerful. And that’s enough.

🎤 One Message to Leave Behind

“There are Zero Reasons to stay quiet, shrink down, or feel ashamed for what you’ve been through.

Your story has power. Your mistakes are part of your growth.

Speak it, sing it, share it — someone out there is waiting for your voice.”
