Learn with Lumi

The just-released “Learn with Lumi” chapter “Magic Shield” introduces protective face masks to children.  The beautifully illustrated first installment highlights the need for everyone to wear a face-covering to prevent the spread of germs. Magic Shield teaches the importance of wearing face masks during a pandemic and how you can make one yourself. With this book, children can familiarize themselves with the masks and see that everyone should wear one when going outside to play with friends.

About the author:

Krista Lanning is a 30-years old mother of one from Long Island City, New York. Like millions of other people, she found herself from the virus epicenter of the world and was wondering how to cope and how to explain this odd situation to the young ones.

Krista is originally from Finland and she talks with her family over face-time daily. Usually, it comes naturally to explain what is going on in NYC to her relatives, but when it was time to explain the COVID-19 situation she scratched her head. One morning watching the news coverage with her mother-in-law she realized that the best way to tell about the virus and use of masks is through a storybook. Krista is working together with amazingly talented Finnish illustrator Moona Paldanius, who has a creative mind and eye for children's stories.

Krista represented Finland in the Miss World 2014 competition which deepened her will to give back to the community as the competition revolved around charity. That’s why $1 of every book sold is donated to the No Kid Hungry organization.
