I have a saying - "Keep the bastards honest" I hate texture theft with a vengeance.
The hair textures I make I spend hours/days on. I know them like the back of my hand - how they look on all types of hair meshes, male and female because I test and test and test them. Then test them again.
When you purchase LyL Hair Texture Files please use the creator number ID with which you plan to use the textures with. This way you won’t be accused of using my textures in a PROHIBITED way, be accused of texture theft or receive a DMCA take down.
Upon purchase of my digital products you do not buy them in a literal sense. You are issued a limited user license to your CID and you are given permission to use them in that registered catalogue. This permission can be removed immediately if you breach the license attached to the products or if you are using my digital files in a fraudulent way.
You understand that you have no legal right to issue a copyright claim against any other user if they also have PURCHASED the SAME LyL Hair Texture Files FROM LyL Hair Texture Files directly.
But someone is using my texture?
Let me rephrase.
Someone is using my (that is ME. S.Matthew's digital hair texture file - it is still my intellectual property) that you purchased a licence to use and are now using in your catalogue.
If you have edited an LyL Hair Texture Files that you have purchased (recolour, or other) or I've made a custom texture for you and you believe without doubt another creator is allegedly using that same texture, please file a DMCA.
Read IMVU's Digital Millennium Copyright Act HERE There's information on HOW to file a DMCA in there also.
Another way to tell if a creator is using an LyL Hair Texture File fraudulently is by the following
- Does the creator have a mish mash of random product icons, using other creators icons?
- Does the creator say "they found the texture on Google" or similar?
- Can the creator say Luci or LyL Hair Textures when asked "where did you get that hair texture from?" without you mentioning my name or files?
- Did they say they made it? (Chances are it could be a ripped version so in their eyes they still "made it". It is still a stolen texture regardless if it has been reedited, resized, is a screen capture, is software ripped, or had the file type changed from .png to .jpg)
- A third party is selling LyL Hair Texture Files. No one has third party selling rights to LyL Hair Texture Files. Please report the fraudulent seller site to me immediately before contacting the site.
- Does the creator block you as soon as you question them? Or are they bullying you saying YOU stole the texture when you have proof of purchase?
By all means file a DMCA against them. Chances are they will not have a receipt of purchase for the said hair texture.
A receipt of purchase is either your PayPal receipt or an email from LyL Hair Texture Files with noted purchased LyL Hair Texture Files.
You can always use your PayPal receipt or email screen capture as proof of purchase, or reach out to me via my contact tab if you need help.
