With Melax Music, saxophonist and composer Stefan Karl Schmid has founded a publishing house whose mission is to release recordings, sheet music, and instructional material, as well as to distribute them physically and digitally. Due to the independence and direct handling by the artist, a fair cost-benefit relationship is created, which enables further publications.

Cologne-based German-Icelandic Stefan Karl Schmid is active nationally and internationally as a saxophonist and composer in the field of Jazz and Improvised Music. He studied in Nuremberg, Cologne and New York. Schmid leads his own projects (Schmid's Huhn, Pyjama, Subway Jazz Orchestra), is a sought-after sideman (Shannon Barnett Quartet, Reza Askari ROAR) and has been featured on over 30 recordings to date. As a professor for jazz saxophone and ensemble he teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim.
