Hi, I’m Heather, the human behind Made By Heather Rose.

As a mum of two feisty little ladies under the age of seven you can imagine I have my hands full trying to raise two happy healthy human beings. Like any parent, I want to teach them to follow their dreams, to create space for them to explore the world, and discover for themselves where their passions lie.

When my girls came along, I found myself regularly frustrated by the clear gender divide I found in children’s products. The restrictive nature of limiting boys to space and dinosaurs and girls to nature and fairy tales really annoyed me. I struggled to find the type of wall art that I wanted for my girls, so I set about designing it myself.

Over the years I’d designed and printed my own wedding invitations and stationery, created personalised baby birth prints for my friends and family, and designed wall art for use around my own home. As more of my friends had babies of their own it became clear that I wasn’t the only one frustrated by the limitations of gender stereotypes.

So, with a 7 month old on my hip and a 3 year old hanging off my leg, my third “baby” was born – Made By Heather Rose. My passion project. My way to inspire my girls. To create choice and remove those restrictions that limit and dictate what a child should or shouldn’t like. I know combatting the gender divide is a mammoth task but if I can put a smile on just one little girl’s face when she looks up at her pink dinosaur print then I’ll have achieved my goal.

My promise to you is that wherever possible my designs, themes, images and quotes won’t be restricted to one gender or another. I aim to make versatile prints that have longevity and the potential to grow with your kids. I love being able to create personalised items and I’m happy to discuss customisation if needed.

Starting this business has reignited a passion in me for design. It has inspired me to create beautiful spaces for my children within our home which I love to share on social media @made.by.heather.rose. Running this business has also allowed me the freedom to be present for my daughters as they grow into beautiful little girls.
