About Me

As a child, my parents recognized my artistic abilities and allowed me to explore my talents with various mediums, even enrolling me in art classes when I was very young.

In middle and high school, I took every art class I could fit into my schedule, and they became the highlight of my day, a calm refuge during a tumultuous time in my life. Although I enjoyed learning realism, my true passion ended up being abstraction. I quickly discovered that my perfectionist tendencies emerged when I tried to draw or paint realism, and nothing was ever good enough.

However, practicing and understanding the fundamentals gave me the tools and insights I needed to break free into abstraction. I discovered the joy of letting go, feeling fluid, and letting inspiration control the paint, not me. I started with acrylics, but watercolor and ink have a level of unpredictability that tickles my fancy. I love the way the inks crash into each other and blend, creating beautiful colors and shapes from chaos.

My pieces are inspired by nature, something I always crave. It could be a color, like the vibrant pinks and oranges of the desert cactus flowers blooming here in Arizona, or a shape, like the pattern on a bird's wing. It could also be a feeling, like the contentment of sitting on the beach, listening to the waves crash. Lately, it's the awe and wonder I feel when seeing amazing photographs from the Hubble Telescope.

You'll find that my pieces don't have traditional titles because I never want to influence you on what you'll see or feel when you fall in love with a piece. I encourage my patrons to "see" into the art and embrace what it means to you.

~Let go. See within.~
