Introducing a Rockpool inspired collection...LOERGANN Cornish made wearable art.
This is silver and gemstone sea kelp statement necklace. 22 inch in length featuring sterling silver hand cut hammered kelp forms, chunky cut turquoise beads and finished delicate faceted moonstone beads.
Each piece completely unique comprising of gemstone pieces, Sterling silver barnacles and kelp inspired forms.
Components are quenched and cleansed in waters collected from water pooled in cracks and crevices capturing a little of the energy, magic and vibration of the environment within each piece.
Imprints of shells and rocks texturise each charm.
My silver forms are hand cut and forged under the light of the moon.
Each one gifted in an artisan stitched mermaids purse making them extra special especially for those drawn to the ocean.
Meet The Maker
Let me introduce myself! I'm Katy Dormer a designer and maker in Hayle, Cornwall.
As an artist I am inspired by the colours, texture and tones naturally occurring within the landscape in Cornwall. Observing the beauty found within lichen, mosses, ancients rocks and megaliths, or pattern texture and form observed within Cornish rockpools.
My creations reflect a mindful connection with nature.
A little bit of my of my heart and soul goes in to everything I make and intended to be felt by the wearer.
I mostly work with textiles, ceramic and metals, often combining many mediums in my work.
I developed my Loergann Jewellery range over the last few years when I recognised the need to create mindful moments for myself.
The forging of ideas under the light of the moon became magical and helped me regain a creative flow.
More recently I have found a new love of growing plants from seed and devoting time and energy into nourishing what grows.
I have focused on encapsulating these colours and forms through pressings, making pigments from pollens and dyes from foliage. Doing this is a personal reminder of the joy in the process of growing and time spent.
I hope what I create inspires a creative flow in you too.
