Manas Heritage Press exists to carry the national epic of the Kyrgyz people into English — whole, and told as a story.

The Manas is among the longest works of oral literature ever composed, carried for a thousand years not in books but in the memory of the manaschi, the singers who held all of it by heart. This telling is drawn from the variant sung by the great manaschi Sayakbay Karalaev, and rendered in prose by Bek Duishekeev — a son of the Kyrgyz people, writing so that his people's story can finally be read.
