About Me
Welcome. Maria Kryspina writes about ordinary people caught in the hardships of war. Her novel, Broken Moon Promise, follows Olek, a young Polish farmer, and Halya, a Ukrainian village girl, whose parents tell them to marry as fear, violence, and hatred spread across Eastern Galicia during the Second World War.
What begins as a marriage meant to help two struggling families soon becomes something much deeper. In a time when a Pole and a Ukrainian could face danger simply for being together, they must keep their marriage quiet and learn to rely on one another.
Inspired by family memories, old records, and stories shared by descendants of families uprooted from Poland's eastern borderlands, Maria brings forgotten voices and lost villages back to life. She writes to remember the people who lost their homes, endured exile, and found the courage to begin again. The Broken Moon Promise story is one of love, family, loss, war, survival, and the long road into exile.
Maria Kryspina is a Canadian author with Polish Ukrainian roots. She lives in Canada, where the story of Olek and Halya still lives on through the family.
