About Me
Mark Stevens is an author, speaker, musician, leadership coach and the founder of Sound of Change.
His story has taken him from the entertainment industry in Australia and the UK to nearly three decades of church leadership, worship, creative development and, more recently, work empowering thousands of young people through music, multimedia and lived-experience storytelling.
Mark began his professional career in entertainment, appearing on Australian television before working as an actor on Neighbours. His journey later took him to the UK and into the music industry as a recording artist and performer.
But behind the opportunities and success was a much more complicated personal journey.
Experiences of addiction, brokenness, faith, recovery and transformation profoundly reshaped Mark’s life and ultimately became part of the message he now carries: your past does not have to determine your future.
After beginning a new chapter of his life at Hillsong Church in Sydney, Mark relocated to the UK in 2000. He went on to spend 11 years as Worship Pastor and Creative Director at Life Church in Bradford and has now spent nearly 30 years serving, developing and encouraging leaders, churches, teams and individuals.
Today, Mark’s work brings together leadership, creativity, communication, faith and personal transformation.
He is the founder of Sound of Change, an organisation using powerful communication, lived experience, multimedia and music to help young people develop greater understanding around mental health, emotional wellbeing, resilience and the choices that shape their future.
Mark is also an author whose writing explores themes of purpose, leadership, faith, transformation and navigating life’s changing seasons.
His published books include:
His latest project, The Next Place: Navigating & Understanding Transition, grew from Mark’s own experiences of navigating significant seasons of change.
Through personal stories, biblical principles and practical insights, Mark helps people recognise the language of transition, understand the defining moments that shape their lives, and position themselves with courage and faith for what comes next.
Whether he’s writing, speaking, coaching leaders, working with young people or making music, one idea continues to sit at the heart of Mark’s work:
Transformation is possible. Your current chapter isn’t necessarily your final destination.
And sometimes the place between where you’ve been and where you’re going is where your greatest growth takes place.
There are others depending on your transformation.
