LOVING THE WOMAN IN THE MIRROR: ME, MYSELF, AND I

You must learn to love yourself. How often have we heard this overused and misunderstood phrase?  As women, we are brought up to give love to others, to put others first, to be the caregivers for others; we are not taught to love ourselves or to value ourselves as we should. So how are we supposed to know
how to begin to learn to love ourselves?  We go through life trying to take care of and please others, but sometimes that means we forget about the dreams we have or we set them aside. We abandon our own entrepreneurial aspirations or goals of higher learning and focus on those of our spouse or our
children. For most of us, this is not something that happens overnight; it is a gradual letting go as daily life and responsibilities for our loved ones slowly overtake us. Then we wake up years later, look in the mirror, and wonder what happened. With time and work, we can grow to realize that the woman looking back at us deserves just as much love as she gave to others all those years.

Let me share with you the story of the woman in my mirror.

Marsha Walker Harris was born and raised in Quincy, FL. She is the third child of five to her late      parents, Tommie Walker Sr and Ruby Lee Long Walker.  She is a Navy veteran who continues to serve as a federal employee working for the U.S. Marine Corps.  Marsha is also a licensed Real Estate Agent in Virginia where she has enjoyed helping homeowners realize their dreams since 2004.  Marsha honored a promise to her late mother by earning her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from American Military University.

Marsha has raised one daughter, Jayla Harris.  Marsha enjoys spending quality time with her daughter and Grand Pup Glizzy, sharing quality time with family and friends, traveling, and community involvement.

Marsha's proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to Destiny Praise and Worship Center, Inc., Quincy FL in honor of her sister, the late Apostle Rosilyn Walker Copeland, Pastor.

Special thanks to Ms. Leanne Miller.  An amazing editor, who sacrificed time and effort to help bring Marsha's story to life.
