Intro: Minecraft is a very advanced computer game, in Minecraft you can build thing (giant master pieces, shops/houses…), explore forests and ruins, and many other things. There are five Editions for Minecraft, Java Edition, Bedrock Edition, Minecraft Dungeons, Minecraft Dungeons 2, and Minecraft Legends. As Markus Persson needed backup with the game, Mojang started to help with the game, and once the game was overpowered, it got sold for $2.5 billion to Microsoft that could hold many more programs, updates, coding, and installations. Mojang also changed the Minecraft versioning system from a 1.x.x to a year-based format (YY.D.H).

Launcher: To get the Minecraft Launcher you need to go to the Minecraft.Net website, then download the macOS DMG file and drag the Minecraft application to your Applications folder. You will need a Microsoft account to purchase for $29.99 and download the game, which supports both Java and Bedrock Editions for macOS. Once you have a Minecraft account, you have the unofficial (but kind of official) option to use another launcher like CurseForge or Prism Launcher. Those types of Launchers use Minecraft it self (using a different Minecraft Launcher to play Minecraft), but you normally have to log in to your real Minecraft account. The benefits of different Minecraft Launchers are that they normally have the beta and the alfa versions of Minecraft that the Official Minecraft Launcher doesn’t have.

Multiplayer: There are two ways to play with other players. One is to start a Lan world over a local network so only the computers connected to the same network can join to the Lan world, to do this you need to Open To Lan. The other way is to create a modded or vanilla server that is available for public access (different networks). To get a vanilla server you need to visit the Minecraft.Net and download the server.jar. Then you open Finder and create a folder, once you have created a folder drag the downloaded server.jar into the folder and run it. When it starts running, some files will appear for the server to be a server. To get a modded server, you need to go to the official site for a mod loader (NeoForge), then download the installation and run it. There should be a window open and you click Install Server then choose where the server will go (somewhere in the finder), once you’ve done that you will need to click finish in order for the server to install.

Tip – A server can be closed (if not needed to stay running) and opened. Lan worlds close automatically when the host saves and quits the Lan world!

Tip – A server needs Java installed!

Cheats: If you name a mob ‘Dinnerbone’ it will turn up-side down. If you name a vindicator ‘Johnny’ it will go mad. If you name a sheep ‘Jeb_’ it will change colour. If you name a rabbit ‘Toast’ it will look like...a friend of someone’s rabbit. To open the chat, you need to press ‘T‘ or ‘/’ on the keyboard, then you can do tonnes of commands.

Most used: 1. /give 2. /fill 3. /gamemode 4. /attribute 5. /place 6. /kill 7. /summon 8. /seed 9. /weather.

Mods: When Minecraft has loaded, you will have ‘Singleplayer’, ‘Multiplayer’, ‘Minecraft_Realms’, Options’, and ‘Quit_Game’. You will need a mod loader (NeoForge), but to install a mod loader you will have to install java from the Oracle.Com website, Once you’ve installed java you will have to go to the official site for the mod loader (NeoForge) and download 26.2 (may be in Beta) and then run the install. There should be a window open and you click Install Client, once you’ve done that you will need to click finish in order for the installation to install. Then open the Minecraft Launcher (you should see your mod loader in the menu below the feature picture) and run the game. Then on the Minecraft title screen you should have another menu item called ‘Mods’, open Mods and go to ‘Open_Mods_Folder’. This is where you place a Mod (a .jar file) that you’ve already downloaded (a website to download mods is CurseForge), then close Mods Folder and quit Minecraft. Then reopen Minecraft and play in the Mod Loader (Not Latest Release).
