At the time of writing, I am 46 years old. I have always had a difficult relationship with food. As a toddler I shared a house with my grandparents and would only eat food cooked by my granddad. He passed away when I was 8, and from then until just a few years ago I only ate a very limited selection of food (mostly fast food, meat and potato variants), and had a 30 year battle with alcohol. This led to the point that my knee could no longer support my 18 stone weight (I’m a short Welshman of 166 cm). The sting in the tail came in the form of a comment from the surgeon operating on the aforementioned knee…

“This will be the first of many unnecessary procedures you will have to go through unless you get a handle on your weight”. OUCH!

Fast forward to 2021, I’m down over 5 stone, an have qualified as a personal trainer with additional certification in nutrition and hydration.

During the Covid-19 lockdownof 2020 I spent time getting better educated to serve myself and my coaching clients, and having tried every fad diet you can name, I started compiling my favourite healthy meals. To support my weight training and health goals I looked for meals that were high in protein, but not too calorific so that they affected my weight loss efforts. This led to my High Protein Low Calorie Cookbook. I followed this with my Vegetarian, Vegan and Low Calorie Recipe books.
