Hi, I'm Joshua.

I'm building custom motorcycles in my shed. Here you can find all the resources that I develop along the way.

After my BMW R80/7 Scrambler build, I'm now turning a Harley Davidson Sportster into an off-road machine. If you want to check out the builds, you can follow the whole journey on my YouTube channel.

Don’t Waste Money on the Wrong Wiring Supplies

This is my complete, tested wiring setup for building safe, reliable, and high-quality wiring harnesses from scratch.

It has taken me hours to find the right tools that work for my quality standards without having to spend thousands of $$ on crimp pliers.

Most beginners just buy what they can find on Amazon because in the beginning you might not even know the right name for the part you need, or what you need at all.

This list will make this whole process super simple for you and not only save you a lot of time but also money.

What You Get

The exact tools and supplies I use for building high-quality wiring harnesses.

Specific product recommendations with clear explanations and direct links.

The Setup Includes

  • Wires
  • Battery Cable
  • Sleeving
  • Connectors
  • Terminals
  • Splices
  • Crimping pliers
  • Fuses and Fuse Holders
  • Supporting tools (automatic wire strippers, heat gun, etc.)
  • Modern Control Units

No random parts. No wasted money. No unreliable connections.

This is not the cheapest possible setup.

It’s the most cost-effective setup that meets my standards for reliability, safety, and professional finish.

Wherever cheaper tools and supplies give a good result I have included recommendations for the budget version as well as the pro version.

This is my shopping list for everything you need to build a complete wiring harness for your custom motorcycle project.

This is the final version of the wiring diagram I used to wire up the BMW R80. It is absolutely free, but if you want, you can support the channel by leaving a donation.

On this BMW R80 build I upgraded to the Vape ignition and charging system and used the mo.unit and mo.button.

You can use it as a great reference for your own wiring. The download (unlike the cover picture) will be complete and in color.

If you want to develop your own wiring diagram, here is a tutorial I made about the process: https://youtu.be/P0vhRdAyE2Q

If you have a question, feel free to leave a comment underneath the video.

Good luck!

Joshua

This is the build sheet I used to build the BMW R80 Pathfinder based on a R80/7 from 1978.

I documented the whole project on my YouTube channel, in case you want to check out the build.

The build sheet has multiple sections:

  • A list of all the parts I used for the build
  • A list of all the parts I bought, but did not use

For each part, I have noted the name, brand, price*, a link, and all of my notes.

As a bonus, the build sheet also includes

  • a list of all of the tools that have helped me on my journey of building the BMW
  • and a metal guide to finding the right type metal for your build

After purchase, you'll be able to download a PDF that includes a link to the Google Sheet.
