Monty G. Gibson has over 26 years of combined coaching experience at every level of competitive athletics: community youth teams, junior high, high school, Division 1 collegiate, and professional athletics.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor degree in Biology from Angelo State University. In addition, he holds three national certifications as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and Performance Specialist:
- Master Strength and Conditioning Coach – M.S.C.C. with the CSCCa (Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association)
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist – C.S.C.S. with the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association)
- USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Certification with USA Weightlifting.
Coach Gibson began his coaching career at Ft. Stockton ISD, where he coached Jr. High and High School Football, Basketball, Track, and Powerlifting. He also served three years as the High School Swimming and Diving Coach.
While earning his Master’s degree at Texas A&M, Coach Gibson served as Middle School Athletic Coordinator and Elementary P.E. Teacher in Bryan, Texas.
Coach Gibson became the Aggie Tennis program’s first full-time Strength & Conditioning Coach dedicated to Tennis. He worked with both Men’s and Women’s Tennis from 2003 through 2014, and again in 2017. He has coached 14 NCAA Tennis All-Americans and the Texas A&M Aggie Tennis teams have won 4 Conference championships. In addition, two of these All-Americans won the 2011 NCAA Men’s Doubles Championship.
Coach Gibson currently works as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns. Along with In-Season and Off-Season Strength & Conditioning responsibilities, he also serves as a Reconditioning Specialist for the Browns, helping athletes return to the field with structured strength and speed development when returning from injury.
