Evert's journey into soil began underground — with fungi.

As a mycologist, he spent years studying the hidden networks that connect forest floors and break down the world above. That fascination with what lives beneath the surface never left him. It only deepened.

Through permaculture, he began to see the bigger picture: that healthy food starts with healthy land, and healthy land starts with life in the soil. When he discovered the Soil Food Web School, everything clicked into place. He trained as a soil food web analyst and founded MycoCyclo — a regenerative soil biology practice based in the Netherlands.

Today, Evert works at the intersection of microscopy, composting, and ecological restoration. He produces biologically complete compost, runs microscope analyses, and guides farmers and land stewards in rebuilding the living systems beneath their feet.

From Soil to Soul is his invitation to see what he sees through the lens — and to understand why the ground we walk on is the foundation of everything we eat, everything we are.
