About Me
Hello, Nak — come in, sit a minute.
I'm Nenek Sari. My mother was Javanese and my father was Indian, so two whole worlds grew up in one house — two kitchens, two ways of keeping a home, two sets of little tricks that nobody ever wrote down. I learned all of it at my mother's elbow and at my father's table, in a home where the rice pot never left the fire, the spices were pounded fresh, and nothing — not a pot, not a pinch, not a single afternoon — was ever wasted.
Before their eyes failed them, I promised to write it all down, so none of it would be lost. Not a hundred rules to obey — the *why* behind each one, the old way it was done before the packets, the jars and the plastic bottles talked us out of what we already knew.
This little shop is where the old way lives. Right now, my mother's side:
🍳 Nenek's Indonesian Kitchen — cook the old way. 115 recipes, every dish photographed.
🧹 Nenek's Indonesian Home — keep house the old way, clean and calm and cheap.
And soon, my father's side too — the Indian kitchen and home I grew up in.
Keep the flame low, keep the house calm, and let things take their time.
