Catherine McDowell is the founder of Novel Concepts Publishing, an independent press built to help writers who've been counted out get their work finished and into the world. Before the press, she ran Roots of Recovery, a shelter for single mothers, which merged with Habitat for Humanity. She lives on the North Carolina coast, where she keeps company with sea turtles and mermaids.
