I have been 3d modeling as a hobby since 2023, and quietly building up my skills since. Most of my projects focus on optimization, however all worlds shown above minus The Buckley Home and the Avatar in Paintin' Perfect was built 100% from scratch by me. Coding by RiskyKen.
I utilize Blender 4.4 for scratch creation, and a mix of Blender's texturing system and Substance Painter for textures.
Click on the photo to access a world link to see them in game! (Minus the Buckley Home, which is currently not ready for guests). Minibyte Pools can be found on the second floor of Spirit O'Pumpkin.
The Buckley Home is my optimization prodigy, with locations slowly being optimized to be the best it can be. For example, the photo you see of it is a single material and texture! Each section will be following this same manner, making my priority in content building from now on optimization and accessibility.
When working on a world, I always start with a very rough base that blocks out what I want. After that it's a jump around between building, scaling, placing, and optimizing to avoid getting stuck on one part.
Starting in 2023, I ditched world building in Unity only, and now use Unity to build my base and scale it correctly, then export it into Blender to Atlas, decimate, and fix lighting UVs. After everything is cleaned up, I'll reexport it into Unity. I don't just do this for from-scratch worlds, but for every single world created in VRChat now. All my worlds are expected to be useable Cross-Platform, and thus need TLC to achieve that goal.
Currently most of my avatars focus on editing whats already out there to fit my needs (shown below), however here are two that were made from-scratch.
Both use bases for the body, head, and hair to save time. I use Blender 4.4 for from-scratch modeling, and Blender 2.79 for rerigging/weighting (don't @ me, its much more user friendly to weight very specific parts in it).
SANDY
Made for our Charity Ball in May 2025. Everything but the previously mentioned parts were completely modeled from scratch, designed, UVed, Textured, and rigged by me.
JASPER
Created for our Haunted House coming October 2025, I was in a rush to get the first promo out for our end of year party in 2024 and only created his romper/jumpsuit, gloves, and jacket, all other parts were added on and planned to be replaced in the final version. Honestly in just a few months I've learned so much more and will probably restart his design to better fit the style.
UNITY SIDE
Personally I do not use systems such as VRCfury or GoGoLoco in most of my personal avatars since I usually play in full body, but have added them in the past to models for my friends and know how to work with them. All my animations are done by me.
Jasper is a Medium Avatar, while Sandy is currently a Very Poor (still a WIP and needs to be Optimized).
I always start out with a very rough draft, following the mentality of 'don't make it perfect, make it exist' to avoid getting myself in a creator's loop. If I am unhappy with a project, I'll move to another section and return once I've had time.
I go into a project knowing the end goal: For Jasper, the goal is for him to not only look good, but also be easy to load for PCVR, CC, and IOS, as he'll be one of many characters shown throughout the haunted house. While not all models are being made from scratch for it, the main characters are prioritized only for plans to sell and potentially merchandise. So I want as much control over them as possible.
All models shown above were put together using preexisting parts in blender to save time and energy. Because most do not have 'from scratch' assets, the models are created solely in Blender 2.79, where they are rerigged, optimized, and weighted. Textures are usually done in Photoshop or Affinity Photo unless the mesh's texture is especially horrendous and needs to be fixed, then reUVing and Substance Painter are the go-tos.
Above are all avatars that are ranked Good Quality for events that were kit-bashed by me. One of my priorities with learning how to create was to make sure I had a plethora of optimized avatars to wear in public spaces or privated events that require it.
I know how to optimize the mesh, blendshapes, materials, and textures (atlasing) to make sure the quality of the avatar is minorly impacted. On the Unity side I have experience optimizing Particles and Audios (as well as once again-using Unity's tools to make things run even smoother.)
Most of my main avatars have a Good Quality version to match my mood, since I change looks as often as the weather changes down here in Florida (thats a lot). I feel confident in not only making optimized models, but also in the optimization process that comes with it and VRChat's limitations for PC, CC, and IOS. (Though I have not yet uploaded any IOS models due to no personal need.)
After creating Spirit O'Pumpkin, I decided to start selling the assets I create as a cheap package for novice world builders to have low poly, well optimized meshes.
I have a decent following on TikTok, and when I created this specific model I was asked to make it public. I did, and then I was asked if I could sell the files to be altered. So, I did! This is the fourth model I've put up for sale, though all previous models have been taken down due to quality concerns (aka, I don't like them anymore.)
I don't just sell, I also run a Patreon and Discord that allows users to get the assets they want for a (sometimes) cheaper rate.
Originally there was a final tier for Minibytes, which was the series of Worlds under 10MBs that each had a theme (like the Poolroom). Time constraints resulted in this being scrapped for later.
Every year I try to host a charity that also has rewards such as Avatars, World Prefabs, or Assets, or they can choose any previously given away creation not listed in the current year.
I believe in using my platform as a positive force, and practicing what I preach, so I give back to the community that has given me so much.
