Nurse to Next was created for nurses who know they are ready for something different but are not always sure what the next step should look like.

Nursing builds an incredible range of skills—clinical judgment, communication, prioritization, problem-solving, documentation, leadership, advocacy, and the ability to make decisions in complex environments. Those skills can translate into many opportunities beyond traditional bedside care, but making that transition can feel overwhelming when you do not know how the new role works, what employers are looking for, or how to position the experience you already have.

That is where Nurse to Next comes in.

Our mission is to make career transitions in nursing more practical, understandable, and achievable. We create educational resources designed to help nurses explore non-bedside career paths, understand new areas of healthcare, prepare for opportunities, and build confidence as they move into the next stage of their careers.

Our first area of focus is utilization management, a field that allows nurses to use their clinical knowledge in a different way through review, documentation, communication, policy application, and healthcare decision-support processes.

Through resources such as The UM Nurse Playbook, Nurse to Next helps nurses understand what utilization management actually involves, how to think differently in a review-based role, how to translate bedside experience into relevant skills, how to prepare for interviews, and what to expect during the first months on the job.
