About Me

Pertelle Gilmore is an author, violence prevention strategist, and community leader dedicated to transforming lives and communities affected by violence. Rooted in his own lived experience growing up amid systemic challenges, Pertelle has become a recognized trainer, speaker, and mentor focused on conflict resolution, de-escalation, and addressing the root causes of violence through education and empowerment. He founded and led The B.U.C.K. (Brothers United to Cease the Killing) Squad, a nonprofit initiative aimed at reducing gun violence through intervention, mediation, and community engagement in Charlottesville, Virginia. 

Pertelle is also the author of works including From My Ashes, A New Dawn: F.O.S.T.E.R.ing Hope in the Concrete Jungle — THE BLACK FAMILIES MANUAL OF POWER & PROSPERITY, a guide to spiritual, mental, and physical transformation. 

A certified violence interruption specialist and valedictorian graduate of the University of Virginia Darden School of Business Entrepreneurship Program, Pertelle combines personal insight with professional expertise to mentor at-risk youth, lead transformative workshops, and speak on issues of social justice, mental health, and community resilience.
