The story behind Painted7Fingers
Hi, I'm Christy — the painter behind Painted7Fingers. The name Painted Fingers came from IRONMANERIC the man behind the metal that I paint. I'm Native American and Czechoslovakian, and no matter what I'm doing, I almost always have paint on my fingers. He started calling me “little Indian painted fingers," and seven has been my favorite number for as long as I can remember. Put those together and you get all of this.
This whole thing started with a handful of ruined magnets. Eric is a metal fabricator and a metal sculpting artist. Theres not much this man cannot do — one day some of his plain metal magnets got messed up. I grabbed my paints and gave them a faux finish to fix them. He loved what he saw so much he told me to "mess them all up." That's exactly what I did. Now he cuts and welds every piece, and I bring the color — speckled textures, color blends, stencil designs — and together we turn metal into beautiful unique spices of colorful art.
Every piece that leaves the shop was touched by real human hands — Hand cut and Machine cut, welded, sanded, painted, and sealed one at a time. Each one has its own story, and I love hearing the story a piece picks up next: where it hangs, who it's for, what it ends up meaning to somebody. I spent a long time believing my creativity wasn't worth much. Getting to paint every day — and seeing these pieces end up in homes and stores — is me proving that voice wrong, one piece at a time.
Thanks for stopping by the shop. Look around, and if there's something you dream up that you don't see here, text or email me — making someone's idea real is my favorite kind of order.
