About Me
I’m a principal teacher of pastoral care with 29 years of experience working with children and young people, supporting wellbeing, behaviour, anxiety and school‑related stress across secondary education. Most of that time has been in the Scottish system, with a formative first year teaching in England where I was given pastoral responsibility for a group of Year 11 pupils and quickly saw how complex life can become when school pressure collides with what’s happening at home.
For most of my career, I’ve worked alongside families during some of their hardest moments — when school feels overwhelming, emotions run high, and everyone is trying their best but nothing seems to be working.
I’m also a parent of two teenagers, so I understand this not just professionally, but personally. I know what it’s like to worry in the quiet moments, to question your responses, and to wonder whether you’re helping or accidentally making things harder.
Parent.Support exists to bridge that gap.
This space is about pastoral guidance, not parenting advice. It’s calm, evidence‑informed support that helps lower the emotional temperature at home so connection, learning and resilience can return.
Everything you’ll find here is shaped by:
– long‑term pastoral practice
– real conversations with young people
– evidence‑based approaches to anxiety and stress
– and the lived reality of parenting teenagers through pressure and uncertainty.
You don’t need to fix everything at once.
You don’t need to push harder.
You just need the right support, at the right time.
That’s what I’m here to offer.
