Our Silk Scrunchies are made from 100% Mulberry Silk, which is a natural and delicate material. There are a range of benefits to using silk scrunchies for hair due to its soft and delicate texture, including reduced hair breakage and reduced frizz. However, this also comes with the need to look after your silk scrunchies carefully in order to keep them in good condition over time.
The best way to wash your silk scrunchies is by hand, following these steps.
- Fill a small bowl or bucket with cool water.
- Add a few drops of a silk-friendly detergent.
- Gently soak your scrunchies in the water. If there are any marks, rub gently in the water to slowly remove.
- Remove from the water bath and rinse in cold water.
- Leave the scrunchies out to dry, overnight is best. Dry in an area without direct sunlight or heat. Do not wring or squeeze the scrunchie as this may damage the fabric.
Once the scrunchie is dry, you may notice it is slightly flatter or the colour has dulled slightly. If this is the case, here is a simple yet effective tip!
Use a steamer to gently steam the silk hair scrunchie for just a few seconds on either side. The warm air from the steam will bring back the silk scrunchie shape and bounce, as well as its shiny sheen after just a couple of seconds!
If you do not have a steamer, you can use an iron on a steam setting to mimic these results.
These are the best ways to keep your silk scrunchies going for a long time.
