I can’t believe it’s been just over a week since we lost our beautiful girl. I wanted to thank the Rhodesian Ridgeback Welfare Trust, particularly Richard and Maggie, for entrusting us to take over the reins with gorgeous Storm.
She came into our lives as a wonderfully confused and bouncy 14-month-old, and I cannot tell you what joy and laughter she brought to our family over the past 9 years.
After a fantastic week away with Storm, spending days and nights with her by our side. We had no idea it would be our last adventure with our precious girl. She became unwell around midnight, and despite rushing her to the vet, we devastatingly had to say goodbye at 3am, on the day she would have turned 10.
I have lost my shadow and she’s taken a huge piece of our hearts with her.
Walking along the River Avon the day after we lost her, which was our regular Sunday walkies. As we stood watching our daughter row, there was a rustle behind us. We turned to see a mini whirlwind picking up brown leaves as it spiralled upward, passing right in front of us before settling around our daughter’s boat. I’m taking that as Storm’s way of letting us know she’s still with us.
Run free, my special girl, and find a sunny spot to pass the time. Thank you for choosing us to love and for the countless moments of pure happiness. Until we meet again, know that you are missed and loved beyond words.
