Funded Training for Refugees & Youngsters
Program Overview:
The program will offer a series of Level 3 workshops, seminars and hands-on sessions to equip refugees with the skills needed to excel in the digital age.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn advanced research and new media methods, including interactive storytelling and investigation. The program will cover open-source reporting methodologies and tools, enabling learners to access and verify information from a wide range of online sources. Learners will receive training in 3D event scene reconstruction, allowing them to recreate immersive visualisations of complex investigative stories.
To begin the testing phase, a community foundation grant or Crowdfunded donation of £5,000 is needed to cover costs of a trial period for three months, training a small group of learners.
If successful, a further application will be made for secondary, scaled up funding, to facilitate opening a small training and research centre with an annual budget of £120,000. The centre will manage ongoing provision of training for a considerable cohort of refugees and youngsters throughout the year.
By providing free training in these critical areas, the aim is to afford these youngsters an opportunity to build important portfolios as an entry pathway to employment routes in research, open source journalism, 3D event & crime scene reconstruction.
Through hands-on learning experiences and expert guidance, participants will gain the skills and confidence to produce data-driven reporting using innovative digital tools. Ultimately the goal is to support the development of a generation of traditionally demographically under-represented youngsters, adept in advanced new media and research techniques, committed to producing hard hitting research, preparing participants to better thrive in host countries as well as back in their native homelands.
