Hey, I’m MaKayla. Let me tell you a little story.

I’m originally from California. After losing my dad, I moved to Virginia in 2019. I didn’t know it then, but that move would eventually lead me here.

Life took me through seasons of structure, setbacks, starting over, and finding myself again. In 2022, I went through a heartbreak that led me to poetry. Then I met someone who made music, and somehow, music came out of me too. By 2024, that relationship had ended, but I stayed with the music. By 2025 and into 2026, I was releasing music and building my artistry.

Being an artist meant constantly finding a way. I traveled to Maryland, D.C., Richmond, and Petersburg looking for studios, photographers, videographers, engineers, producers, shows, and opportunities. Sometimes I didn’t even have a car. I lost my apartment and my car, but I kept going.

Eventually, I got a house. I created, dreamed, and started bringing people together.

I met artists who had talent but had lost their connection to their artistry because life had taken a toll.

That’s when I realized I had to make the vision bigger than me.

I had to make it about us.

You don’t see the bigger picture until the picture is bigger.

Looking back, the move, the losses, the music, the house, the connections, and every time I had to find a way were all pieces leading me here.
