About Me
Redemptification Ministries, Inc.
Alicea Peyton
I am a creative vessel called to restore, rebuild, and breathe life into others through music, ministry, counseling‑informed support, and compassionate service. My spiritual work lives at the intersection of sound, healing, and spiritual renewal.
Through piano‑driven compositions, faith‑centered guidance, and a heart for community uplift, I help others find the same peace and restoration I have fought to reclaim in my own life.
As a lifelong musician, I express much of my creative and spiritual voice through the electric piano and keyboard. My playing style—its phrasing, flow, and emotional depth—is a signature element of my sound, and it shapes the atmosphere of every composition I create. Even when others lend their vocals, the musical foundation remains distinctly mine.
Redemptification Ministries was born from that journey. It is the home of my upcoming project, Redemptified—a musical and spiritual offering shaped by moments of prayer, struggle, breakthrough, and grace. Each composition is a step toward wholeness, a reminder that redemption is not a single event but a continual process of becoming.
My calling extends beyond music. As a scholar, librarian, and peer‑reviewed writer, I have spent my career advocating for information equity, community empowerment, and access to knowledge—especially within underserved and faith‑based communities. I currently serve as the Outreach and Inclusion Librarian at the DC Public Library, where I design programs that connect marginalized populations with the resources they deserve.

My Faith & Musical Roots
Although I am affiliated with the Palace of Peace Church, I no longer reside in Chicago where the church is located. My musicianship has opened doors to serve alongside many churches and pastors across different cities and denominations. These relationships have shaped my ministry, broadened my understanding of worship communities, and deepened my commitment to using music as a tool for healing and connection.
Academic & Professional Background
My academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from Dominican University, along with graduate and undergraduate degrees in liberal arts, management, and information science. Currently, I'm back in grad school to become a clinical mental health counselor.
My research explores gospel communities, storefront churches, and the information behaviors that emerge where faith and culture intersect. I examine how spiritual and cultural frameworks shape the ways people seek, interpret, and share knowledge—especially in underrepresented or grassroots settings. This work now expands into clinical contexts, integrating mental health research to understand how these same communities navigate help-seeking, healing, and wellness through both spiritual and therapeutic lenses.
I am also a lifelong musician. In 2006, I recorded I’m On Assignment – Live from Redeeming’s World Church, featuring songs such as I’m On Assignment and Say You’re Strong!—early expressions of the ministry that continues to unfold today.
Community & Personal Life
I am a widow and mother raising my daughter in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. I remain connected to communities of faith, scholarship, and service through organizations such as Phi Theta Kappa and the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH). My life’s purpose is to serve, uplift, and create spaces where people can encounter healing, clarity, and spiritual renewal.
Redemptification Ministries is more than a platform—it is a calling, a community, and a testament to what restoration can look like when faith, creativity, and service meet. I am honored to share this journey with you.
