🎮 Why I Write Gamer Girl Romance and Why It Matters to Me 💕

I’ve always believed that stories have the power to make us feel seen, understood, and less alone in our experiences. That’s why I write gamer girl romance—because there’s something that excites me when I write about love, gaming, and the messy reality of being human in this day and age.

So I wrote a book about a gamer girl with quirks, flaws, and passions that were being celebrated.

Meet Emma, the fierce yet insecure heroine I poured my heart into creating. In many ways, Emma is a reflection of me and so many of us, really. She’s got her struggles: stress-snacking her way through a tough day, overthinking until she spirals, feeling insecure about not having a flat belly and sometimes making impulsive decisions she wishes she could take back.

And honestly, I’ve been there too. I know what it’s like to feel like you’re too much—too loud, too intense, taking up too much space. But I wanted to show, through this book that sometimes the things we dislike most about ourselves are the very things that the right person will love. Your temper? Your intensity? Your passion? Those are the things that make you, *you*. And for the people who truly see you, those are the things they’ll adore. 💖

But it’s not just Emma who’s figuring it all out. Let’s talk about our other main character, Alex, the pro gamer who seems like he has it all but has his own struggles.

Alex has spent most of his life focused on his gaming career, which left little room for genuine, long-term relationships. And it’s a lonely place to be when you’re used to being surrounded by teammates and fans, but deep down, you feel out of your depth when it comes to real emotional connection. He struggles with feeling inadequate, wondering if he’s enough outside the gaming world. He’s used to being in control, on top of his game—literally—but relationships? That’s new territory.

But what makes Alex special is his determination to be better, for himself and for Emma. When he realizes what they have is worth fighting for, he’s not afraid to communicate, to support Emma, and to work on himself because he believes she deserves the best version of him. He’s navigating his own  insecurities as he prepares to retire from pro gaming, but he’s not doing it alone—Emma’s right there by his side. This is what I love about them—they’re a team, in-game and irl. ❤️‍🔥

I wrote this book for every woman who has ever been told to tone it down, for every gamer girl who has been on the receiving end of toxic insults, and for everyone who’s ever felt like they were too much. Because I want you to know—you are not too much. You are exactly enough, just as you are.

And let’s talk about the gaming world, because there aren’t enough love stories that dive into it! It’s rare to see romance novels where gaming—especially professional gaming—is more than just a passing mention. But as someone who was involved in grassroots esports back in the day, I wanted to bring that world into the romance spotlight. I’ve poured all my love of gaming into this book, and it’s something I’m incredibly proud of.

Every scene is inspired by the experiences that shaped me and so many others who love gaming. I wanted to show what it’s like to navigate love and life while being passionate about gaming, which is often misunderstood or overlooked in romance.

Writing Good Game, Gamer Girl was a labor of love, and I want to share that love with you. It’s not just a book about a gamer girl who meets a pro gamer and falls in love. It’s a story about embracing the things that make you different and believing that there’s someone out there who will love you for exactly who you are.

So, if you’re looking for your next romance  read, I hope you’ll give Emma and Alex’s story a chance. I’d love nothing more than for it to find a home with readers who will appreciate it for what it truly is. 🫶
