MEET LAUREN AND HOW RISE & SHINE CREATIVES BEGAN

Hi, I’m Lauren, the founder and jewelry artisan behind every Rise & Shine CREATIVES piece in Lake Mary, Florida. What began as a way to process a difficult season became a small business built on resilience, creativity and a love of glass beads and sterling silver.

Jewelry making offered something creative, tactile and calming during recovery, then grew into a calling. Each handcrafted piece can offer someone else a wearable reminder that rising is still possible during a hard season. The name Rise & Shine CREATIVES reflects the daily choice to get up, keep going and let a little light through.

THE DIAGNOSIS AND RECURRENCE

The journey began with a Stage III thyroid cancer diagnosis. Treatment followed, and for a while it felt like the hardest part was behind me. Then came a recurrence. The second diagnosis brought back the fear, but it also called for a different kind of fight. Getting through treatment again made “survivor” feel like a word earned twice over.

Ongoing check-ins and monitoring remain part of life. The hardest days were not always the medical ones. They were the quiet moments of fear and uncertainty. A turning point came with the decision to stop waiting to feel fully healed before finding joy again.

WHY THE BUTTERFLY MATTERS

The thyroid gland is shaped like a butterfly, which is where the central symbol of this story began. The butterfly also represents transformation, moving through something painful and emerging changed, stronger and more colorful. That meaning appears throughout the Rise & Shine CREATIVES branding, packaging and jewelry.

Every piece carries handmade artistry, butterfly symbolism and part of this story. Each piece is created for survivors, caregivers and anyone moving through a difficult season who needs a reminder to keep going. Every order arrives gift-ready with a handwritten note and affirmation card.

THE AWARENESS MISSION

Thyroid cancer awareness matters because many people do not recognize the symptoms or know that support is available after diagnosis. ThyCa, the Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association, has been a meaningful resource throughout this journey.

A MESSAGE TO THE THYROID CANCER COMMUNITY

To anyone newly diagnosed: it is okay to be scared and still hold hope at the same time. To fellow survivors: whether this is the first fight or another chapter, every part of the journey counts. To caregivers and loved ones: the support, worry and strength carried alongside a patient are seen and appreciated.
